Even Maggie gets into it!

I love that my daughter likes to craft!
She will come into my studio & start opening drawers & asking, "Can I have this...?" It's a pretty good way to de-stash, unless she reaches for something vintage or that I have a purpose in mind for!! Somethings are just too hard to give up!! LOL!!

One of the great things about using the collage sheets from Altered Pages, is that I can print as many as I want & share them with Maggie.
She really likes to collage & is becoming quite the mixed media artist!

Yesterday, we spent the day crafting with mom for a pre-birthday celebration - while we worked on a Christmas project (YES! I said Christmas project in January!!), Maggie made all sorts of fun items for mom's b-day! All with AP images of course!!

AP-1662 "A Visit to the Dollhouse" collage sheet
And, here's the canvas we did together...I tried to get her to collage some images on it too, but she had her own vision! (Wonder where she gets that from?)
She did a nice scene in the background with crayon (that's me, her & G-ma at the bottom); then we sprayed some various textures on it with fabric spray paints (a technique I learned from Traci Bautista last year at The Creative Connection).
Grandma was thrilled with it all!

I will share more photos from our Christmas project assembly & some "party" photos another day this week!
Off to get the Magpie from school!
TTFN!

Happy Birtday to our Mom!!

Just wanted to wish our mom, Reba,
a Super Duper Happy Birthday today!!!
She's a wonderful wife, mom, friend & all around BEAUTIFUL lady!!
We LOVE you very much mom!!!
You ROCK!

Blogging, Schmogging! And a funny story of the Magpie!

For all those bloggers out there...do you ever have days where you could write forever on your blog? Like you have so many ideas & thoughts bursting out of you that you might be able to write a weeks worth of posts?

What about days when you can't seem to get a word onto the screen or just don't have the gumption to blog?

I've definitely been the latter lately! It's not that I don't have things to share, but rather I just didn't feel like sitting in front of the computer loading pix & writing all week long!
That didn't stop me from wasting time surfing the net for inspiration or reading the countless blogs I subscribe to though! ;) I also find that I just can't sit down to write & share with y'all unless I can truly focus...hard to do with my silly Magpie at home sometimes!!

So, please know that it's not that I don't love all of our readers & want to share! It's just that sometimes I get in a funk & don't know WHAT to share!
One of my "resolutions" this year is to set a schedule for myself to blog at least ONCE a week! You can help with that by leaving a comment if you've visited & seen that I have written anything in a week or longer! Help me be accountable! PLEASE!! :D

I did finish my first kit project for Altered Pages the other day & it's already up on the site! You can find it HERE. I will post more about it in a couple of weeks, but I have to share how SUPER thrilled when Jean (the lovely owner of AP) texted me to tell me that someone over at Altered Arts Magazine had come across the kit & showcased it on their Facebook page!! Very cool! It is so awesome & humbling to be recognized for you work - even just a little bit!
Thanks Altered Arts!!!
(Which is a very cool online magazine geared towards mixed media & paper crafts!!)
I am hoping to work up a few more Valentine-y projects this week & believe Kim will be doing the same! We'll share them when we can.

On the home front, I have a funny story to share with you about The Magpie...the other day, in her kindergarten class, they were learning how to count by 5's.
The teacher asked the class if it was quicker to count by 1's & gave an example. Then she asked if it was quicker to count by 5's, & as she began to give an example, my lovely Magpie raised her hand & blurted out,
"Miss Eggleston (teacher), liquor is quicker!"
NICE!!!
Now the teacher thinks one of 2 things, a) we're a bunch of booze-hounds at home (not too far off! LOL!!) OR b) she's seen original Charlie & The Chocolate Factory so many times, she can quote the movie!!
Well, both of those were wrong & we can blame this little blunder on my mom...
You see the lovely Ann Taintor cocktail napkin under my margarita?? Well, those were in my stocking this Christmas from mom & Maggie just happened to latch onto the saying!
Oh, the funny things kids say! HA!

Hope y'all have a WONDERFUL, creative weekend!!
Cheers!

New things to come!

It's official!
We received a "goodie" package from Jean at Altered Pages the other day!
Fun papers by Glitz, a few stamps to play with & a TON of collage sheets full of vintage images!!
Kim & I can't wait to get started!!
Glitz Papers & some Stamps!!

Now Kim & I will have to fight over who gets what paper & share the rest to make our first creations for AP! I'm thinking of playing with some fabric on this one & I'm sure Kim will come up with something fabulous at the drop of a hat! (As usual! She's super speedy!)

Jean has also dropped a hint to the team that there are new things to come at Altered Pages this year & will hopefully tell us the great news after she attends CHA in a couple weeks! We are so excited to be a part of this team & to be working with such a forward-thinking "boss!!" You go girl!!

Vitamin F

I just had to post this wonderful note that Jean Moore of Altered Pages sent out to us simply because it is a wonderful sentiment about friendships! Thanks Jean!!
friendship card available here

"Why do I have a variety of friends who are all so different in character? How
can I get along with them all? I think that each one helps to bring out a
"different" part of me.

With one of them I am polite. I joke with another friend. I sit down and talk
about serious matters with one. With another I laugh a lot. I may have a drink
with one. I listen to one friend's problems. Then I listen to another one's
advice for me.

My friends are all like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. When completed, they form a
treasure box. A treasure of friends! They are my friends who understand me
better than myself, who support me through good days and bad days. We all pray
together and for each other.

Real Age doctors tell us that friends are good for our health. Dr. Oz calls
them Vitamins F (for Friends) and counts the benefits of friends as essential to
our well being. Research shows that people in strong social circles have less
risk of depression and terminal strokes. If you enjoy Vitamins F constantly you
can be up to 30 years younger than your real age. The warmth of friendship stops
stress and even in your most intense moments it decreases the chance of a
cardiac arrest or stroke by 50%. I'm so happy that I have a stock of Vitamins F!

In summary, we should value our friends and keep in touch with them. We should
try to see the funny side of things and laugh together, and pray for each other
in the tough moments.

Thank you for being one of my Vitamins!"

Very well said Jean!
Thanks to all for being my vitamins too!
Cheers!

Scraps

I know, I'm terrible!!
I totally meant to get on here over the Christmas break & post pictures & updates & well wishes!! But as usual, LIFE got in the way!!!

We really didn't do a whole lot business-wise at the end of the year. But we did enjoy some great family time together & we still seem to be in the Christmas spirit & will probably continue to work on some of those projects we didn't get to & we just might have to have a Christmas in July sale!! HA!

Kim & I do have some exciting news to share for 2012 already...
we were asked by the owner of Altered Pages - a FABULOUS webstore (and owner!) that specializes in vintage image collage sheets & more! - to join her DESIGN TEAM!!! We are so VERY excited to be working with her & talented team she has assembled!
You can see the team line-up here with more about each designer on their site here
(We're not on it yet, as we were just added yesterday!)

AND today, I checked in at one of my newest favorite blogs - Christy Tomlinson of Scarlet Lime, and who is just the SWEETEST girl EVER - to see who won her latest workshop giveaway & guess what?
It was ME!!!!
photo from Christy's site
I am so THRILLED to take this workshop (The Art Of Wild Abandonment taught by the talented Junelle Jacobson) in March - which just happens to be my Birthday month!!!
This fits right into my goal this year of taking lots of classes & learning some new techniques!! Thanks to Christy for making that SO possible for me (& others)! Check it out when you can!

So, I have to say that 2012 is shaping up nicely!!
I hope to give you some more updates very soon!!
CHEERS to a bright & CREATIVE New Year!!
